Tidö Castle is Haunted

Tidö castle is situated southwest of Västerås in Västmanland, Sweden. Axel Oxenstierna who was Gustav II Adolf’s Chancellor and also Queen Christinas guardian took the help of architects Simon de la Vallee and Nicodemus Tessin senior to build the castle in 1620 - 1642.

In the eighteenth century there was a little boy who lived there. His name was Karl Kristoffer Deficius Dohna and he was the son of count Fritz Karl Dohna and Fredrika Ulrika Sture. According to legend he had been told to stay away from the various old tunnels underneath the castle, but being a curious child he did not listen but sneaked away and took off into a tunnel to explore. Soon he was lost and could’t find his way out. The boy was never found again but died a gruesome death in the cold, damp and rat filled tunnels underground.

You can still hear his ghost screaming for help at night looking for a way out, a scared, lonely tormented sound.
